The EazeQuant BCA Protein Assay Kit is a detergent-compatible method for colorimetrically detecting and quantifying total protein. The assay involves the reduction of Cu²⁺ to Cu¹⁺ by protein in an alkaline solution, followed by the sensitive and selective detection of the resulting Cu¹⁺ with bicinchoninic acid (BCA). This reaction produces a purple, water-soluble complex that strongly absorbs light at 562 nm, with a linear response over a protein concentration range of 20–2000 µg/mL.
