EazeQuant Mouse MCP-1 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect mouse Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) in serum and cell culture supernatant.

MCP-1 in mice, also known as CCL2, is a chemokine primarily produced by monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells. It plays a pivotal role in the recruitment of monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to sites of tissue injury and infection. MCP-1 is synthesized as a 13 kDa protein and functions by binding to the CCR2 receptor. Elevated levels of MCP-1 are associated with various inflammatory diseases, including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. MCP-1’s chemotactic properties are essential for the immune system’s response to inflammation and infection. Therapeutic targeting of MCP-1 signaling pathways in murine models has demonstrated potential in treating chronic inflammatory conditions by reducing monocyte recruitment and inflammation.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of mouse MCP-1 in the original specimen.
