EazeQuant Mouse IL-5 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect mouse Interleukin-5 (IL-5) in serum and cell culture supernatant.

IL-5 in mice is a cytokine primarily produced by Th2 cells and mast cells. It plays a crucial role in the growth, differentiation, and activation of eosinophils. IL-5 signals through the IL-5R receptor, promoting eosinophil-mediated inflammatory responses. Elevated levels of IL-5 are associated with allergic diseases such as asthma and eosinophilic esophagitis, making it a target for therapeutic intervention in these conditions. IL-5’s role in eosinophil activation and survival makes it a key factor in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic disorders. Therapeutic targeting of IL-5 or its receptor in murine models has shown efficacy in reducing eosinophil levels and alleviating symptoms in allergic diseases.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of mouse IL-5 in the original specimen.
