EazeQuant Mouse IFN alpha ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect mouse Interferon-alpha in serum, EDTA/citrate plasma and cell culture supernatant.

IFN-α in mice is a type I interferon produced primarily by plasmacytoid dendritic cells in response to viral infections. It possesses antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory properties. IFN-α exerts its effects through the IFNAR receptor, activating the JAK-STAT signaling pathway. Studies in mice have demonstrated the critical role of IFN-α in antiviral defense and immune regulation. IFN-α enhances the activity of natural killer cells and cytotoxic T cells, contributing to the immune response against viral infections. Its therapeutic potential extends to the treatment of viral infections and certain cancers in murine models.

In the assay, the microplate is pre-coated with the first antibody, whereas samples, standards, or controls are added and bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of mouse IFN-α in the original specimen.
