EazeQuant Mouse IL-2 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect mouse Interleukin-2 (IL-2) in cell culture supernatant and serum.

IL-2 is an essential cytokine involved in immune modulation, playing a crucial role in the proliferation of activated T cells and the differentiation of B cells, natural killer cells, monocytes, and macrophages. IL-2 exerts its effects by binding to the IL-2 Receptor (IL-2R), which is a heterotrimeric protein complex. Notably, the gamma chain of the IL-2R is also shared by IL-4 and IL-7. The expression of the IL-2 gene in mature thymocytes is tightly regulated in a monoallelic manner, representing a unique mechanism for precisely controlling the expression of this gene. Studies in mice have demonstrated that disruption of a gene similar to IL-2 results in a disease resembling ulcerative colitis, highlighting the critical role of this gene in the immune response to antigenic stimuli.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human mouse IL-2 in the original specimen.
