EazeQuant Human IL-6 Receptor ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Interleukin-6 Receptor (IL-6R) in serum, EDTA/citrate/heparin plasma, cell culture supernatants, amniotic fluid and urine.

IL-6R, also known as CD126, is a protein expressed on the surface of various cell types, including hepatocytes, immune cells, and stromal cells. It binds to IL-6, initiating the JAK-STAT signaling pathway and promoting immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. Dysregulation of IL-6/IL-6R signaling is implicated in chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, making this pathway a therapeutic target. The IL-6/IL-6R signaling axis plays a critical role in the inflammatory response and the development of autoimmune diseases. Therapeutic inhibition of IL-6R has shown efficacy in treating rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions by reducing inflammation and modulating the immune response.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human IL-6R in the original specimen.
