EazeQuant Human TGF beta-1 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Transforming Growth Factor beta 1 (TGF-β1) in serum, EDTA/citrate/heparin plasma and cell culture supernatant.

TGF-β1 is a multifunctional cytokine produced by many cell types, including macrophages, platelets, and fibroblasts. It plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth, differentiation, and immune responses. TGF-β1 signals through TGF beta receptors, activating the SMAD signaling pathway. Dysregulation of TGF-β1 is associated with fibrosis, cancer, and autoimmune diseases. TGF-β1 is involved in the suppression of immune responses and the promotion of tissue regeneration. However, overexpression can lead to pathological fibrosis and contribute to tumor progression. Therapeutic modulation of TGF-β1 signaling pathways holds potential in treating fibrotic diseases and certain cancers.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human TGF-β1 in the original specimen.
