EazeQuant Human PDGF-BB ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Platelet-Derived Growth Factor-BB (PDGF-BB) in serum, EDTA/citrate/heparin plasma and cell culture supernatant.

Primarily produced by platelets, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells, PDGF-BB is a dimeric growth factor composed of two B chains. PDGF-BB plays a significant role in cell proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis by binding to PDGFR-β receptors. Aberrant PDGF-BB signaling is implicated in cancer, atherosclerosis, and fibrotic disorders. PDGF-BB promotes the proliferation of mesenchymal cells, contributing to tissue repair and regeneration. However, its overexpression can lead to pathological conditions such as fibrosis and tumor growth. Therapeutic targeting of PDGF-BB signaling pathways holds promise for treating diseases characterized by abnormal cell proliferation and angiogenesis.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human PDGF-BB in the original specimen.
