EazeQuant Human PD-1 ELISA Kit is to used to quantitatively detect human Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) in serum, EDTA/citrate/heparin plasma and cell culture supernatant.

PD-1 is an immune checkpoint receptor expressed on the surface of T cells, B cells, and myeloid cells. PD-1 interacts with its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, to inhibit T-cell activation and promote immune tolerance. This mechanism is crucial for preventing autoimmunity but can be exploited by tumors to evade immune surveillance. PD-1 inhibitors are used in cancer immunotherapy to enhance anti-tumor immune responses. The blockade of the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway has shown significant efficacy in treating melanoma, lung cancer, and renal cell carcinoma. Understanding PD-1’s role in immune regulation has led to the development of novel therapeutic approaches aimed at enhancing the body’s immune response to cancer.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human PD-1 in the original specimen.
