EazeQuant Human MMP-9 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9) in serum, citrate/heparin plasma and cell culture supernatant.

MMP9 is an enzyme produced by neutrophils, macrophages, and fibroblasts. It is involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, playing a key role in tissue remodeling, wound healing, and angiogenesis. MMP9 is secreted as an inactive proenzyme (pro-MMP9) and is activated by proteolytic cleavage. Elevated levels of MMP9 are linked to cancer metastasis, cardiovascular diseases, and chronic inflammatory diseases. MMP9’s ability to degrade the extracellular matrix makes it a critical factor in tumor invasion and metastasis. Inhibiting MMP9 activity is a potential therapeutic strategy for preventing cancer progression and treating other diseases characterized by excessive tissue remodeling.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human MMP-9 in the original specimen.
