EazeQuant Human MCP-1 ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1 (MCP-1) in serum, EDTA/heparin plasma , amniotic fluids and cell culture supernatant.

MCP-1, also known as CCL2 , is a chemokine primarily produced by monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells. It plays a pivotal role in the recruitment of monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to sites of tissue injury and infection. CCL2 is synthesized as a 13 kDa protein and functions by binding to the CCR2 receptor. The chemotactic properties of CCL2 are vital for the immune system’s response to inflammation and infection. Elevated levels of CCL2 are associated with various inflammatory diseases, including atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. Its role in pathogenesis makes it a potential therapeutic target for treating chronic inflammatory conditions.

In the assay, the microplate is pre-coated with the first antibody, whereas samples, standards, or controls are added and bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human MCP-1 in the original specimen.
