EazeQuant Human IL-17A ELISA Kit is used to quantitatively detect human Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) in cell culture supernatant, serum and plasma.

IL-17A is a pivotal CD4+ T cell-derived cytokine that contributes significantly to the promotion of inflammatory responses. It is on elevated levels in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, and transplant rejection. IL-17A exists as a disulfide-linked homodimer with a molecular weight of 32 kDa, comprising 136 amino acids. It exerts its effects through the interaction with the IL-17 receptor (IL-17R/CDw217). Activated peripheral blood CD4+ T-cells are the primary source of IL-17A homodimer production. Notably, IL-17A stimulates the expression of intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in human fibroblasts. Moreover, it induces the secretion of IL-6, IL-8, G-CSF, and PGE2 by epithelial, endothelial, or fibroblastic cells.

In the assay, samples, standards or controls are added to the microplate coated with the primary antibody, and then bind to the immobilized antibody in the microplate wells. Subsequently, the second antibody is introduced to the mixtures as the detector, followed by the addition of a substrate solution that generates signal to be measured. The intensity of this signal correlates to the concentration of human IL-17A in the original specimen.
